Silverfish and Firebrat bodies are flattened, long and slender. The body tapering toward the rear. The antennae are long and slender. Three slender appendages are found at the rear of the body. They may be found almost anywhere in the home but they prefer warm moist areas. They can eat almost anything, proteins, and carbohydrates. They have special enzymes in their digestive track to digest cellulose; they will eat paper and other cellulose products.

Treating for these insects involve a complete inspection, followed by placement of dust insecticide in areas where they live and hide. Since the insects live up to 3 years and lays eggs in batches of 50 per batch, control of these insects often takes several visits.
