Are These Ants In My Jacksonville Home Dangerous?

May 11, 2020

Growing up, it seemed we were always battling invading ants. As a child, I'd refer to them by their size and color. The small red and black ants seemed to be the ones that mom hated -- those were the ones in our pantry and in our kitchen. Dad hated the stinging red ants that built huge dirt mounds all over the lawn.

The argument over which type of ant was worse for our family ended when we discovered that the really big black ants caused nearly two thousand dollars worth of damage to the underside of our summer porch. Those big black ants we're carpenter ants, and it turns out they're pretty common in Jacksonville.

Today, I know that no matter what type of ant has invaded your Jacksonville home, Lindsey Pest Services has the solution for you. It doesn't matter what type of ants you have, our experienced professionals will develop a plan to fix any ant problem.

No Ants Belong In The House

Almost all ants can contaminate food sources. Some ants, like Pharaoh ants, can even track dangerous pathogens into our homes.

Furthermore, most of the stinging ants will cause the same kind of allergic reaction that those sensitive to the sting of bees suffer from. People with a sensitivity to stings can go into anaphylactic shock if they don't receive help immediately after being stung by an ant. Ants are not sanitary, they are not safe, and they don't belong in our homes.

It’s no easy chore to exclude ants from your Duval County property. Ants are hard to eliminate once inside your home and even harder to eliminate from your lawn and yard.

We're all tempted to try do-it-yourself methods of ant control. More often than not, these over the counter methods fall short and the ants quickly return - sometimes worse than before. Furthermore, using poisons without a license or professional experience can damage your health, the health of your family members, and the health of your pets.

Experience goes a long way in the battle against ants. Our experts at Lindsey Pest Services are experienced in treating the myriad of ant species found here in Jacksonville including pavement ants, odorous house ants, acrobat ants, Argentine ants, crazy ants, ghost ants, white-footed ants, carpenter ants, and Pharaoh ants.

None Are Sanitary, None Are Safe, And Some Damage Property

None of the ants we treat are sanitary, and some of them, like the fire ants, can cause severe allergic reactions with their stings. Carpenter ants have the potential to create the same kind of medical emergency with their stings, but we know them for another reason. Carpenter ants can also cause several thousands of dollars of property damage. This is because they build their nests in wood. In addition to being able to sting and bite, carpenter ants can do as much damage as termites.

The other Jacksonville ants known for doing property damage are crazy ants. Crazy ants can do damage to structural electrical systems by chewing up the insulation between wires and shorting our relay switches. Crazy ants will also wreak havoc on air conditioning systems. They only arrived in the US in 2002, but they are slowly becoming notorious for doing as much damage to properties as carpenter ants. Unfortunately, crazy ants are thriving in Jacksonville.
